Major renovation of the historic Kong Yick building into the site for the new Wing Luke Asian Museum. The newly renovated 59,500 SF space, now fortified by a structural steel seismic system, is the first affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution in the Pacific Northwest. A portion of the existing structure and finishes, including exterior windows, were salvaged, restored and reused to offer an “immersion” experience, transporting patrons back to the turn of the 20th century.

The Wing Luke Museum is a skillful architectural realization of the dreams of a community, magnifying the spirit of place by the sensitive and artistic intervention of the designers.
